People gain muscle with P90X because Tony Horton does such a great job with the workout. Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you have been experiencing weight gain on P90X that is the reason.

I've been doing P90x, and I just finished the first 30 days. I am much stronger (just noticing ease of lifting day-to-day things such as groceries, my kids...) I've gained 6 pounds of muscle, and I admittedly didn't do as much cardio as was required by the program. Sometimes I would skip Yoga or Cardio. I diligently did the upper body workouts and Ab ripper. I'm seeing some early results. With P90X, its not about what you weigh. Its about body fat and how you feel. Don't get discouraged if you gain some weight. It just means your muscles are filling out!

I've gone through P90X five times already and love it. I prefer adjustable dumbbells but I've heard of many people getting great results with bands. Looking forward to the new P90X, P90X:MC2
