The Garmin Forerunner 305 is a marvel of technology for the fitness enthusiast. I myself had been hesitant to purchase one of these, due to the price. Once I saw the item on ebay selling for $150, I thought it was time to purchase one. Being a promising long distance runner, I purchased the Garmin as a tool for me to use to increase my running capabilities - in an effort to achieve better time goals in the marathon distance.
The Garmin Forerunner is an important piece of technology to me, as with any long distance runner, the obsession of becoming a faster runner is always there. The Garmin tracks your minutes per mile, total distance covered, and total time in each work out session. These statistics provide an accurate gauge of how well anyone performs during training and during races. The Garmin also has a feature where you can have a virtual training partner, and the wearer can choose to compete with it, to improve and train better.
These are some links to the Garmin 305, and there is also a link to the Garmin 405.
The Forerunner comes with a training software cd, so it can track your workouts. It also comes with a USB cord that attaches to a charger. This USB cord is the link between your Garmin and your computer. By tracking your workouts on your computer, it helps to gauge how far you've come along in your running program and motivates you to excel each successive work out session. In time, you can be well-prepared for any race distance you decide to do.
