Last night I ordered something I usually never order: Buffalo wings. I rarely eat chicken, not because of health reasons necessarily, I just don't like the taste. I happened to have eaten lightly for most of the day so by 9:00pm, I was really hungry. I purposely passed on a glass of red wine because every time I have wine, I wake up the next morning to red cheeks, puffy face, eyes twice the size as normal and of course, tired and sluggish and a slow moving morning. I ordered water with lemon, "boneless" buffalo wings appetizer which I had no idea were actually like fried chicken nuggets (I should have asked) and celery with blue cheese dressing.
I haven't eaten wings since I began tracking my food so it had literally been years since I had eaten wings. The first one tasted amazing!! The sauce, the blue cheese dressing (so many calories - ugh. Don't look if you don't want to know. The second one, not as good but still pretty good. By the time I had eaten most of it, I had a bit of a sick feeling, that feeling of being too full and just "heavy". I had totally regretted I had ordered it, but I was kind of psyched I made the "mistake" so I wouldn't be ordering them any time in the future.
So this morning? I woke up with the EXACT same symptoms of a night after a few glasses of wine.
Cheeks red? Check
Face puffy? Check
No Energy? Check
Eyes twice as big as normal? Check
So yes, I believe buffalo wings can give you a hangover.
