I have been struggling with trying to find ways of convincing Jackie to use resistance bands as part of her workout routine. We took a trip (I took her on a trip I should say) to the HQ of Bodylastics, which makes excellent band sets. We did a three part video series where she went through a short series of low impact workouts that quickly engaged a good percentage of her major muscle groups. Watch the video to see her response:
We mention Dr Joel Fuhrman's Eat For Health in this video. If you are unfamiliar with him, or have not yet gotten one of his books, check out the following page and offer we put together that has a short video where Dr. Furhman explains his approach in a very concise manner. Single most important point he makes is this:
Every single video we make embeds this ideas of increasing your nutrient intake. Dr. Fuhrman's big idea has been that at the root of obesity and bad health in general is nutrient deficiency. He has recently developed an online test where you can find out how much damage you have done to your health with your diet. This whole process is called "The Nutrition Prescription."
This is a link to a short "bonus call" we made this week for the Point Of No Return. Someone came into the program with a ton of motivation but wanted some immediate direction in terms of what she needed to do to get to a point where she felt she was "on track."
Instead of answering her question, Jackie and Joshua hopped on a conference line and presented three suggestions for her. If you are new to PEERtrainer in some way or looking for a little guidance, you can listen to this call at the following link:
Almost all the content we are creating now at PEERtrainer is in direct response to specific questions people have. No matter what resources (Groups and teams, tip of the day, pursuit of excellence, point of no return) you are using on the site, if you have a question- please ask us!!
As part of our new PEERtrainer Pursuit Of Excellence Program we are creating content to guide people to specific steps they can take to boost their energy. Many people have lost weight and now want to start running. Others want the energy to tone up. Others simply want energy to them them through the day.
This article covers two of the first ideas in the program and we build from there:
We got a lot of great feedback to our vegetable soup video by readers of the Tip Of The Day. And we were asked for more! This is a video we quickly made that shows the step by step process of making Carrot Ginger soup. This is a very tasty, zesty and slightly spicy recipe. It is also vegan friendly in that there is no dairy of any kind.
Most importantly- this soup TURNS MY HUNGER OFF! No idea why. When I eat a bowl I don't want to eat anything else. I think the combination of intense nutrients, plus a small amount of fat helps me feel satiated. Very interested to see how you all react to this recipe. And please leave comments on this blog post if you can.
We were just asked about the book that Jackie talked about in her introductory video for our new Pursuit Of Excellence Program. The book is called "pH Miracle Living" by Robert Young. Here is a link to the book on Amazon and the lowest available price:
The other book we reference, and will be continuing to reference, is Slow Burn by Stu Mittleman:
This is a video I got in response to a question from a Tip Of The Day reader who is stationed overseas. She has been doing great and wanted some tips on what she should do when she returns to the States.
Btw- if you like the videos we are doing and have some ideas for others, please let me know. And please take a moment to share what we are doing with others!
If you have not for some reason bought a copy of Slow Burn yet, I am offering you a very short grace period. Please get it, especially if you are going to be doing the Pursuit Of Excellence Program. Here is the Amazon link- you can even get a used copy for $6.24.
We are changing how we charge for the Point Of No Return Program. People did not want to feel like they were being penalized for choosing the $10 a week pay as you go option. Very few people ended up canceling, and as a result ended up paying $120 for a program that others bought for $97.
What we are now doing is shifting to a model where we charge you $1 for the first month, and then split up the remaining payments over three months. This allows people to experience the first month of the program, and see for themselves what it is all about. And it provides a uniform pricing model that does not penalize people who don't pay up front.
In 30 days you will start getting charged the rest. If you don't like it, email us, tweet us, send us a note on facebook, leave a comment below and you will not be charged any further. We will even give you back your two bucks if you want. Seriously.
Info For People Want To Know More About The Program
It is tough sometimes for us to describe the entire program in a succinct manner. Conceptually, you might want to think about the program as "the opposite of a diet pill." People take diet pills to get an instant result. It is a very compelling value proposition, especially when a doctor is there pushing it.
You can justify it because the doctor is part of the equation, there is often a quick result. But the underlying issue remains, and you are virtually guaranteed to gain the weight back. This is the problem that we designed the program to address. People know how to lose weight. In some ways, we are a country of professional dieters. If we absolutely need to get into a dress or a suit for some big occasion, we will find a way. Where there is a will there is a way.
So we set out to build a program to answer the following question-- "What are all the things people need to think and do, over time, to get to a place where they will stop gaining and losing weight in these huge cycles."
Now, we are all going to fluctuate, but in the course of all the stuff we have been doing at PEERtrainer, we have observed a tremendous frustration when people are in a place where they feel like they are not in complete control.
So our mission was to design something to lead people to a place of much better control. Now, there is no cure to gaining weight. Life happens, and often we have to deal with really really crazy and bad things. That is the reality. But one should be able to be at a place where when you need to refocus, you have total confidence in your ability to do so.
The program works on a weekly basis. You will download a lesson once a week, and also get some great follow-up emails at some points during the week. There is not going to be this massive result in one or two weeks, but by week four most people get to a point where they are thinking "wow, this is pretty cool and enjoyable." This is why the people doing the $10 model usually keep going.
In three days we go back to the prior price of $97. We have also been asked about a CD version of the program. The issue is that would create a significantly higher price point. If there is huge demand we will do it, but a program in that format usually costs around $300.
