There may literally bazillions of different weight loss programs on the market. Well, maybe not bazillions, but certainly a number well into the tens of millions. Writing this I got curious as to the actual number, so I just entered “weight loss” into Google. It turned up 118,000,000 entries. That’s actually closer to a bazillion than I originally thought!
Any way you look at it, there is a lot of weight loss info on the market. Let’s take a brief look at the different types of Weight Loss Programs out there.
1. Diet programs
This is probably the first thing most people think of when it comes to Weight Loss Programs. Usually this is a variation on the theme of changing the foods you put into your body. Some diet programs suggest gradual changes to new foods (i.e. changing your diet permanently), while others suggest you can make changes for a period of time to lose weight, but then later return to your preferred foods.

Exercise/fitness
programs
This is the second thing that most people tend to think in
terms of when it comes to Weight Loss Programs. We all know exercise is good for our health, good for our
mental well-being and good for helping the pounds come off. While it may not be 100% true that you
have to exercise in order to lose weight (our experience shows us that if
you’re very disciplined and consistent, you can lose the weight you want with
just dietary changes), there is very little room to argue the fact that it
certainly helps.

Pill
based programs
Thumb through just about any magazine in a grocery store
checkout line, and you’re bound to see loads of advertisements selling one diet
pill or another- all of them promising “stellar results, previously unknown to
medical science!”.
While we’re not here to tell you specifically what you should or shouldn’t do, we highly recommend you approach using any kind of weight loss pill with extreme caution. Consult with your physician first. These pills tend to be loaded with high levels of stimulant chemicals, and we haven’t seen many people successful at long terms weight loss using diet pills.
4. Weight loss Mindset Coaching approaches
In our experience this is a very important component, and may very well be the most understated factor in achieving lasting weight loss results. Here are the reasons why this is so:
a. Most people know what they need to do in order to lose weight, they just have a very difficult time following through and doing it.
b. If they don’t deal with the underlying psychological and emotional reasons that they’re overweight, they’ll ultimately sabotage their weight loss efforts and have to start again at square one.
c. Losing weight and keeping it off are often two very different skills. Most people have lost weight before but then gained it back within 12 months.
For all these reasons, getting the right info on how to deeply change your mindset and thinking about weight loss and food is really important. Our experience shows that getting the right information about how to do this can be a ‘make it or break it’ factor in achieving true lasting weight loss.
