We just got this recipe sent to us from NutriSystem, and it shows you what the company is focusing on and how they are answering this question. We will let you draw your own conclusion:
Grande Taco Salad
"NutriSystem members have unleashed their inner chefs to create a number of recipes for taco salads. Now that warmer weather is here, we thought we’d take the best of these suggestions and offer a basic Taco Salad to get you started. Once you get a sense of the basics, you can let your inner Southwest chef go wild!
Counts as 1 dinner serving + 2 vegetable servings + 1 dairy serving + free food
Ingredients
NutriSystem® Beef Taco entree
1½ cups romaine lettuce, rinsed then shredded or torn into bite-sized pieces
1 Italian tomato (chopped)
1 Tbsp. salsa
¼ cup, fat-free cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese, grated
Sprinkle fresh cilantro, finely chopped (optional)
Directions
1. Prepare Beef Taco mix according to package directions; set aside.
2. Put lettuce on a large plate.
3. Top with tomato.
4. Add prepared taco and top with grated cheese.
5. Add salsa.
6. Sprinkle with cilantro.
7. Break the crisp taco shells into pieces.
8. Arrange around the salad.
Enjoy! "
